The Roche TROPT sensitive test is a qualitative immunological rapid test for the determination of cardiac troponin T in the blood, which enables a rapid diagnosis in the event of a heart attack. This test is based on the detection of a biochemical marker that is released during myocardial necrosis. By measuring troponin T in the blood, not only can heart attacks be diagnosed, but non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) can also be identified, even if characteristic ECG changes are absent. The test is extremely easy to perform and provides results within 15-20 minutes. A small amount of anticoagulated venous whole blood is sufficient. A positive result is indicated from a threshold value (cut-off) of over 0.1 ng/ml. The samples do not need to be refrigerated and can be stored for up to 8 hours at room temperature. The test is stored at 2-8°C. It is available in different pack sizes: either with 5 tests including pipettes or with 10 tests without pipettes. The functional principle is based on a sandwich complex of gold-labeled and biotinylated monoclonal antibodies that react with troponin T. A red detection line indicates that the troponin T concentration is above 0.1 ng/ml, while a control line confirms the functionality of the test.
