Learn why woulff bottles are an important part of laboratory glassware

Laboratory glass bottles like Woulff bottles are used when passing gasses through a liquid and can be used as an intermediary flask for vacuum work to help collect solvents and/or a control vacuum. Woulff bottles can also be used for washing gases or dissolving them in solvents. 

Woulff bottles come in a range of sizes with various attachments. For example, a Woulff bottle in an Erlenmeyer flask shape, with a plastic coating to help avoid splintering and implosion. It is also available with screw-off plastic hose connections made of PP  (polypropylene), which is very similar to HDPE-type plastics, however, PP is slightly harder and more heat-resistant.
