Buy immobililation collars at the Fleischhacker Shop

An immobilization collar or cervical brace is a cervical bandage used to relieve pressure on the cervical structures. This can be either rigid, like the cervical splint, or soft and elastic, like the cervical collar. Cervical spine brace (CWS brace) refers to a plastic sleeve that immobilizes the cervical spine (CWS). It replaces part of the support function of the cervical spine and partially suspends the ability to move. The head rests on the splint, which rests on the shoulders and transfers the weight to them.

The product name Stifneck (from English stiff neck) from Laerdal has become established for the cervical spine splint. Also available in our store is the Ambu Perfit. The Stifneck Select from Laerdal is an immobilization collar available in 4 sizes for adults, the Stifneck Paedi-Select is a 3-way adjustable cervical brace for children.

Preclinically, an immobilization collar is applied to all patients with a suspected cervical spine injury, for example, close to a car accident, falls from a great height or a fall with a skateboard, bicycle or motorcycle.

A correctly applied cervical spine immobilization collar can prevent undesirable traction forces on the cervical spine even in the event of unavoidable movement of the patient (for example, during technical rescue, positioning on a stretcher, during transport or when repositioning the patient). This helps to prevent subsequent damage to the spinal cord or to prevent existing injuries from worsening.

Cervical spine immobilization collars should only be applied by caregivers who have been informed about and trained in their use. Two helpers are required to apply a cervical spine immobilization collar correctly.
