The alternative to spineboards: patient and scoop stretcher for transporting patients
Stretchers and scoop stretchers are used to transport a person who is unable to stand or walk independently due to injury or illness.
A stretcher is usually a flat stretcher on which a person can lie while being transported from one place to another. It is often used by ambulance services, fire brigades and hospitals to transport patients who have been injured in an accident or are in a medical emergency, for example.
A scoop stretcher is a special type of stretcher that is used to remove a person from an area that is not accessible for conventional stretchers, such as confined spaces or places that are difficult to access. It is often used by fire brigades, mountain rescue services and ambulance services to transport people from areas that are difficult to access.
In contrast to spineboards, patient and scoop stretchers are not suitable for extreme operations such as water rescue or mountain rescue due to their nature.
