From ventilators to intubation: the various ventilation procedures
Ventilation, also known as respiratory support, is a critical medical process used to assist or take over a patient's breathing when they are unable to breathe adequately. Various devices are needed for ventilation, depending on the specific needs of the patient and the type of ventilation used.
Emergency ventilators: Emergency ventilators are critical devices for immediately securing the airway and providing oxygen to patients in life-threatening situations, designed for rapid deployment and available in different sizes to suit individual needs.
Resuscitator: A resuscitator, also known as an ambu-bag, is a hand-operated device used by healthcare professionals to pump air into the patient's lungs, especially in emergency situations. These bags can be connected to a mask or endotracheal tube to perform manual ventilation.
Respiratory masks: Respiratory masks are used to deliver oxygen or air to the patient by placing them over the mouth and nose. They are available in different sizes and designs and can be used for non-invasive ventilation or the administration of oxygen during anesthesia.
Accessories: These include tubing, filters, moisture traps, HME filters, breathing circuits and other connecting elements required for the proper functioning and hygiene of the ventilators.
Intubation: Intubation is a medical procedure in which a flexible tube is inserted through the mouth or nose into the trachea to open the airway and allow ventilation.
Oxygen supply: In medical situations, oxygen delivery may also be supported by the use of oxygen therapy devices such as oxygen concentrators, oxygen tanks or ventilators to increase oxygen delivery and optimize oxygen levels in the blood.
