A huge variaty of dishes and crucibles
Crucibles are essential in the lab for melting metals and testing substances at higher temperatures, but dishes may be used for evaporating some solutions. We offer crucibles and dishes in a wide variety of materials, such as clear polystyrene which is a clear hard resin with a relatively low melting point. Whereas aluminum offers malleability of the container, with high electrical conductivity. Porcelain dishes provide greater strength and translucency compared to other types of pottery because of the vitrification and formation of the mineral mullite at the high temperatures in which the porcelain is manufactured. Porcelain dishes can be purchased glazed. Melamine products, which are made out of a type of synthetic resin are also available.
Crucibles made of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) can also be purchased and are therefore, hydrophobic with resistance to high temperatures, but also display non-stick properties. A selection of Duran® glassware with spouts, or quartz glass, and soda-lime glass are also available. However, an evaporating dish made of Nickel may be preferable as this material makes the dish especially resistant to corrosive environments.
Containers can also be made of 18/10 steel. Evaporating dishes made of PE (polyethylene) with snap-on lids aid in preparation and transport. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) photography tray makes this tray shatterproof, and resistant to intense temperature change as it is made out of high-strength thermoplastic. Furthermore, we offer a selection of other dishes available in PP (polypropylene), a tough and rigid thermoplastic.
