WESTMED ® ECG disposable adhesive electrodes, foam layer

The WESTMED® ECG disposable adhesive electrodes with a diameter of 50 mm are specially designed for short-term monitoring in areas such as resting ECG, exercise ECG (Ergo), echocardiography and in emergency and intensive care medicine. They consist of a non-breathable foam backing, which makes them particularly suitable for short-term applications. However, these electrodes are less recommended for patients with sensitive skin.

Equipped with an Ag/AgCl sensor and a push-button connection, the electrodes can be reliably connected to all standard ECG devices. Solid gel is used as the contact medium - a chemically fixed liquid gel that combines the advantages of liquid and solid gel. It ensures that the skin surface is very well moisturized, which leads to fast and stable signal transmission, even if the skin is insufficiently prepared.

Thanks to the chemical fixation, the gel is not easily squeezed out of the sponge, which enables a clean and controlled application. One possible disadvantage is that slight gel residue may remain on the skin. In addition, the gel material used does not allow for a particularly compact electrode shape, as would be possible with classic solid gel electrodes.
