The principle of Stack's splint is based on hyperextension of the injured finger end phalanx. A firm hold is ensured by attaching a strip of plaster or a Velcro strip. The finger splint by Dr. Paul Koch is made of thermoplastic acrylic resin and offers a comfortable wearing property due to the multiple perforations and is effective against skin maceration. The material can be reshaped somewhat by heat, for example hot water. Despite the finger splint according to Stack, it is advisable to cover the injured finger with a tubular bandage.
