The Vacutainer® tubes made of PET, EDTA are indispensable in haematology, especially for blood count analysis. With a diameter of 13 mm and a length of 75 mm, they are the ideal size for taking and storing blood samples. The purple transparent stopper with a paper label identifies the product as a Vacutainer EDTA tube and enables easy and safe handling. Made from PET (polyethylene terephthalate), a high quality and transparent plastic material, these tubes offer excellent stability and transparency. The transparent design allows easy visual inspection of the blood sample and facilitates identification of the fill level. The tubes are filled with K3EDTA (1.8 mg/ml) as an additive that irreversibly inhibits blood clotting. This additive, which is present as a dipotassium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (K3EDTA), is applied in spray-dried form to the inner wall of the tube. This preserves the condition of the cellular blood components and secures them for subsequent analysis. To ensure an optimal analysis result, thorough mixing of blood and additive by 8 to 10 swirling movements is required. Rapid mixing reduces the formation of microclots, which improves the accuracy of the analysis. The BD Vacutainer K3E EDTA tubes are available in different sizes (2 ml, 3 ml, 4 ml) and meet Vacutainer's proven standards for precise and reliable blood analysis in hematology.
