The Arrow® FAST1™ Sternum Trainer is an advanced training tool specifically designed for the FAST1™ (First Access for Shock and Trauma) intraosseous infusion system. This training torso enables healthcare professionals to practice and perfect the technique of intraosseous infusion, especially when applied to the sternum. The trainer consists of three main components, a bone plate, a skin and a bone insert. Each of these components is designed to create a realistic training environment that simulates conditions in a real emergency scenario. The bone plate forms the basis of the trainer and provides a stable, hard surface that mimics the resistance of a real sternum bone. This plate allows users to accurately practice intraosseous needle placement while getting a realistic feel for the resistance and techniques required in actual use. The skin patch is applied to the bone plate and simulates the outer layers of the skin. It allows an authentic imitation of the layers of skin that need to be pierced to create an intraosseous approach. By training with this skin patch, users can learn how to place the access precisely and safely while developing the feel for skin penetration and resistance when inserting the needle. The bone insert is an additional component of the system that is installed inside the bone plate. It ensures that the simulation of the bone marrow space and the associated resistance are realistic. This allows for extensive practice of the technique, including handling the needle and performing the infusion under near-real conditions. Included with the Arrow® FAST1™ Sternum Trainer are all three components: the bone plate, the skin patch and the bone insert.
