Cellulose nitrate membrane filter, type 138. Cellulosic nitrate is the material that combines effective retention with high flow rates and optimal colony growth. The printed grid, with 3.1 + 3.1 mm squares, facilitates the counting, especially at higher counts and microcolonies, but does not affect growth.
