For protection against uncontrolled leakage of gas in the laboratory. An electrical voltage is generated in the thermocouple by the heat of the pilot flame. This voltage is sufficient to keep the previously manually opened solenoid valve open in the ignition fuse. The gas supply is open. When the flame of the burner goes out, the thermocouple cools down and the generated voltage drops, causing the solenoid valve to close automatically.
