Restek's polar-deactivated surface is tightly bonded to the Carbowax polymer, increasing thermal stability compared to our competitors' columns. Due to the increased stability created by the bonding process, Stabilwax columns exhibit a long lifetime, even with repeated use up to 260°C. The column's bonding mechanism also prevents retention times for polar compounds from shifting, as is often observed with other wax columns. Furthermore, this bonding mechanism results in a column that can be regenerated by solvent washing. Stabilwax columns are used for a wide range of compounds and matrices, including FAMEs, flavorings, essential oils, solvents, aromatics (including xylene isomers), acrolein/acrylonitrile (EPA 603), and oxygenated compounds. They are also used for chemical purity testing and alcoholic beverage analysis.
